Minimum alcohol price thread
Is it going to work? Makes the budget rather irrelevant when they pull out a mega-tax the day after in the name of 'control'. UK will be one miserable place after 5 years of the tweedle dumb and tweedle dee show. Pricing worked in Scandanavia I suppose and will also shave some expense off the health budget. The elephant in the room is air-quality though (probably as destructive as smoking but no-one mentions it) which Spelman has already said is too expensive to tackle

options were: (i) alcohol related crime and hospital visits should be paid for instead. (ii) Will work and is needed. (iii) Won't work and is a nanny state move (iv) blue and yellow stilton

it's not that simple to answer with a poll imo.
it will be bad for pubs, which i think is a bad thing, people will just drink tins at home rather than go down the pub, i realise pubs aren't particularily healthy social places but they are traditional and local and i think the pubs dying out is a bit of a shame. this won't really effect alcoholics, they'll drink whatever the cost.
