ULTIMATE SYNTH WARZ...YAMAHA AN1X

What is the best all in one synth for a minimal set up, i say yamaha an1x, a digital analogue with ribbon controller and editing software. Only problem, it does not sample....suggestions.

Yamaha wisely ($$$) split analog synthesis, FM synthesis, and sampling into three separate boxes. The AN-200 for analog, DX-200 for FM, and SU-200 for sampling. They all work perfectly together, and they're all about $400. Oh and they all do drumz too.

Kurzweil k2xxx ... specifically a k2600. You get sampling, ROM samples, as well as DSP generated analog waveforms which all gets processed through the VAST synthesis engine. Then u get the 8 channel KDFX unit.

:)

LOL

When he said 'minimal', i think he meant that as in 'cheap' - as oppossed to 'one the world's most expensive keyboards'

Nice as they are ;)

ooooooh, baby....VAST....must....keep.....saving....

i thought by minimal he meant physically...if that's what you mean X, the K2xxx series is the way to go, IMHO

you can find a second hand 2000 for not so much $$$ (relative to the k2600, that is) but it's not as powerful....but really when your talking about kutzweils, just cuz one isn't as powerful as the other it's still all good cuz they poop all over most everything else out there!!! the k2xxx's are still kind of pricey second hand but that means that they are quality, no?

they also got killa sequencers, so that may increase yer minimal-ness

By far the cheapest best all around synth is the Waldorf Micro Q. I got mine for $600 and god damn. I make a noise in that baby and run it through some plugins !BOOM! now thats some serious shit. Warm, Wide and Juicy good qualities in both a woman and a synth. Plenty of Bottom end if you know what I mean.

yea but the an200 is a severely trimmed down version of the original an1x. we got a full 61-note keyboard (aftertouch, velocity.etc) plus 8 realtime controllers plus x-y ribbon controller, mod+pitxh wheels, etc. ETC. for $350 bucks at a pawn shop. sorry to be spoiled but the real an1x rips the guts out of the an-200, drumz or no drumz. haven't heard the su-200, tho maybe thats the perfect mate for our qy-70?
