desks are something which are a bit personal really

like i run an a&h desk because the eq's piss all over the mackies - but then someone was saying they didn't like the sound of the a&h when you overdrive it ... personally i love it, most of my basslines make the peak light stay on constantly...

so i won't really say which desk you should go for, you should make up your own mind

but i will say

1) if you're not sure then possibly an 8-bus isn't the place to start
2) yes analogue is perfectly relevant to a digital setup, as long as you have the analogue outputs to drive it. analogue and digital are like two long lost lovers. Get them together on the right occasion and you'll have a beautiful harmony - either side without the other, i would say, is not wholly complete.

oh yes! gotta see the red!!!

I found mackies light and a bit fairy. The soundcraft has lovelly gain and the EQ is controllable maybe more than creative, but the mid sweep has a lovelly tone.

At 320 odd from turnkey the Spirit M12 is a fucking bargin in my view!
