DOA: You guys always have got a lot going on, so let's tackle some of the releases and news we've received bit by bit. First off: there’s been some dope collaborations with S.P.Y, leading up to the soon to be released "Gangsta" on Shogun Audio. How did you guys first start getting to work on tunes? What’s the chemistry like?

Total Science: We met via signing a 12" he did with Mosus for Advanced. He did one side called "Seeing Through Shadows", which we loved. We them met up with him and started to jam in the studio and it really worked. Carlos has such a great energy in the studio which brings out the best in ya. He even converted us to Ableton, us and half the scene I think! So the guys at Ableton, sort him out!!

DOA: Now, with "Gangsta", this tune has spread like wildfire amongst the dubplate circuit. What do you think it is about this particular track that’s caused such a stir?

Total Science: I think its probably because its got that old skool vibe about it but still sounds relevant. It also seems to work well on the dancefloor, which helps.

DOA: One has to think that the Total Science/S.P.Y team-ups don't stop with "Gangsta" – are we bound to see more tunes coming from you lot in the future?

Total Science: We have done a load of tracks together and are making more every week. Finished products we have had the 12" for Clearskyz that came out the beginning of this year; we have a 12" for Subtitles coming out in May/June I think, plus one side of a 12" signed to Metalheadz.

DOA: We also got wind that you've linked up with Lenzman? Tell us what we should expect from those sessions, and how soon we might expect them out?

Total Science: Tejie came and stayed while he was over one week, so we got in the studio together with Carlos (S.P.Y) and did one of the sides for the Subtitles 12" called "Narrow Margin". It's moodier than what you might expect from us all, but we're really happy with how it came out and will definitely be doing more collabs with him when he is over again.

DOA: Back in the Summer of 2009, you guys did a mix with Riya for Knowledge Magazine; it featured a remix of A-Sides' massive "What U Don't Know". Is there any timetable for release on this one?

Total Science: Not 100% sure if this will ever come out. It seems a bit too old now, but who knows.

DOA: What ELSE does Total Science have dropping in 2010? We're hearing releases from Critical, Run DNB and more?

Total Science: Yeah we have 12's with S.P.Y which we mentioned earlier on Shogun, Subtitles and Headz, along with a 12" for Critical ("Redlines" ft. Riya b/w "Skinz") which should be dropping in April [Ed Note: Critical advised today that this release will be out in early May]. The RUN DNB thing is actually gonna be a collab with CIA being called RUN CIA and will be S.P.Y's remix of "Squash" and the Marky and S.P.Y remix of "Soul Patrol".

DOA: What's up next for the C.I.A. stable of labels? We heard there's a new Tuned In compilation on the horizon – who can heads expect to find on that? What’s going on with CIA Deepkut?

Total Science: We are doing a Tuned In 2 LP which will be 4-5 12's, as trying to get tracks off everyone for one date seems impossible these days, with a CD to drop September time. The 1st 12 will drop soon, featuring S.P.Y & BTK's "Save Me" and our tune "Trespass". For Deepkut, we have a 12" from FD & Script/FD & Keza dropping in the next few months, and after that a 12" from more new guys Krakota & Judda.

DOA: One of your finest hours was the signing and release of Zero T's Cheap Shots album. How do you guys feel about how that album went down? Any plans for outside artist albums on C.I.A. in the near future?

Total Science: The Cheap Shots LP went down well. We paid Cian in Lucky Charms, so it was pretty cheap!! It was a good experience, but doing other peoples LPs takes up a lot of time and with trying to write lots of new music, we just haven’t got time for another project like that at the moment.

DOA: There's also talk of a Total Science artist album in the works as well. Will this be more of a varied bag like Mars Needs... Total Science? Any early word on features and the like?

Total Science: Well we are gonna start writing an LP soon but haven't started it yet. We will be doing collabs with various people and would definitely make it varied as that’s how we like music in general.

Total Science: You can expect a various selection of the DnB we are feeling right now.

Total Science: We will be in Sweden, Blackppol, and Hicthin in April, with Australia/New Zealand and USA tours planned for June.

DOA: Spring’s sprung – any plans for the warmer months?

Total Science: To get a tan.
