Charlie Van Pelt - "Justin Bailey"

It's yet another video game tribute - the clue lies in the title.

Justin Bailey (jump-up, quirkstep, swingstep)
Also available at my MySpace page.

I went back to my quirky and fun-loving ways for this track. Methinks it's definitely fit for intergalactic groovin', but don't take my word for it.

As always, download and (hopefully) enjoy!

You realize that I'm gonna have to listen to "Altered Beast" just to see what you're talking about. Since different is what I was going for (see second half of the tune plus both drops), I'll take that as a compliment.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, quite quirky, maybe slightly too quirky for my tastes. Lol, and the shuffle just finishes it off.

I think this tune would clear the dancefloor but it was an interesting and entertaing listen. Nothing wrong with doing something a bit different.

Hey there, Breakthrasher. I get the "weird" or "odd" tag quite a lot, not only in my music but in real life - so your comments don't come as a surprise.

I've actually been wanting to do a full-on swingstep song for a very long time, even during the period when I was producing songs like "Another One Bites The Duck." Just so that I didn't totally weird people out and risk clearing the dancefloor (although my sadistic side would like to hear of my tune causing that), I only did it in the second half.

However, as long as you found the tune interesting and entertaining (the keyword being interesting), it's all good.

Thanks for your feedback.

Haha CVP, attack of the clowns, eh? That eerie, spacey intro leads to, well, silliness. Works well in the first part, but tbh I'm not feeling this star-destroying swing in the second, kinda waters down the feel of the tune and it's more like two tracks put together than a build-up throughout one single track. I mean what carries the tune is the drums and in the second part you just lose that.
Also, I think you should take out the bass and the hats in that transition around 3:00 to make it smoother.
Either way,

Yep this here's silliness set to audio - hence my "quirkstep" tag above.

Like I said above, the swingstep has been something I've been toying with for a bit. I figured that I'd make folks expect it just before the first drop was over, then they'd hopefully forget about it and be that much more surprised when it reared its head again.

I did flirt with fading out the bass and the hihats and having two bars before the swing came in. I also did that with one bar in between in order to tighten up the structure before I settled upon what turned out to be the final idea.

Either way,

Funny that you say that - my last video game tribute got pegged with the c.l.o.w.n.s.t.e.p. tag, too.

Thanks for your feedback. Keep 'em comin'!
