DanjahWillRobinson Reason Reese tutorial (by me)

How to make a basic reese using the malstrom + FX
this should all be built in a seperate combinator with its own 16:1 mixer

1) get one sawtooth (this can work with a square as well, i normally never use the sawtooth 8 or 16 because there not as clean as the normal sawtooth)

2) pitch octave down so its low(3 i expect)
:
3) route to filter (bp filter for the squelch bass, tune freq and res to ya own desire)

4) assign mod b to filter (just A coz ya only using A, but ya can assign to B filter if ya want more than one filter)

5) set it to sync 1/4 (or whatever time signature your working to)

6) now adjust the filter nob on mod b (normally about 3/4 to the right, this is more for a wobble type bass so its down to ya own taste)

7) put ya attack on the filter envelope up about 30%-60%, depending on how long you want it to carry, and adjust the amount to how much ya want it to filter
:
8) route the audio out (which should already be in the mixer) to seperate channel 1 left 1 right and pan full 1 left 1 right)

9)so now ya have a left channel and a right channel for ya malstrom

10) assign an mclass eq to send 1 and eq to taste (apply to both left and right)

11) now add a scream to send 2 (do what ya like to get sound ya want), but only apply about 50% to each channel (depending on taste)

12) now get a chorus to send 3 and a unison to send 4 but

13) add chorus to left channel about 60-70%
but nothing to the right and do the opposite with the unison 60-70% to the right and nothing the left

*note you can mix them about but thats a good way of starting

*you can also add another saw to the malstrom, settings should roughly be the same, but with a different filter i.e.lp filter. Change the cent to about 32+ cent to give ya more movement (wobble) to the saws/reese

try it ya self !!!

thats because its all just rough work i did say ya have to do it to taste imo, obviously theres alot more to eq'in hence the reason i put BASIC.

but yes do post up your examples would be cool to hear how it sounds when other people try it out.

plus separating left and right gives it more clarity, and control, plus you would need a sub underneath to carry. have ya never used a mixer before, ya pretty much always split a stereo signal to left and right, makes it easier to mix down since ya can change the width of ya stereo that way.

Yes I have used plenty of mixers, no I have never split a signal only person I know who does is my mate who uses it on vocals when he makes his pop and B. Most club systems are mono so stero in dance music is pretty much useless.

One question, why did you put a eq on a send? and not as an insert?

btw L chanel for malstrom is filter A

R is Filter B

yes left filter A

right filter B but make sure they are both in the left channel n the mixer so

(channel 1) filter A into left audio panned left
(channel 2)filter B into left audio panned right

i put the eq on the send since i don't always put it to 100% since it might boost the signal t much, more control as a send, but ya could very well just use it as a insert.

of course this is meant for the first stages of ya rese and should be resampled.

cheers for trying

But if theres no audio coming out of filter B and you put that to its own chanel, everythings gonna be coming out the left

Apart from the sends you put on

I would have it coming out of filter A then into a audio spliter then do what ya normally do.

1 thing I noticed listening to the clip

Only trying to help
