I dont know why Chris thinks this set is so superior to the current sound. Dont get me wrong, the set is nice but better than what we have at the moment ? I dont know...
I miss those rollers, that just use some cool sounds, Krust - True Stories or Dylan - True Force as two examples.
We have a very different techstep sound. Its a lot more aggressive and noisy, but then again Metropolis, The Mutant revisited and Shadowboxing where perceived as very aggressive and noisy at that time too.
The whole neurothing, well i was never a fan of that, but i was never a fanatic for ed rush and optical (well wormhole).
I think neuro is the techno style gone too far.
As photek once said, DnB is a mixture of hiphop, reggae and techno and if one of those elements dominate to much it gets "bad".....
Whats also different are the beats. I dont know how you call the style beats are nowadays, some people say two-step, some even dullstep. I would really like so hear a bit of variation again !
A lot comes down to the fact that everybody values technique over style.
Or as someone else said: science over art.
And because of that a lot of people want to have their sounds....well sound like their favorite producer.
