DJ STORM PRESENTS KEMISTRY REMEMBERED (28 APRIL 2009)
On 25 April 1999, the Drum & Bass community lost a true pioneer for female DJs, and a well-respected selector and ambassador for the scene, DJ Kemistry. Many knew of Kemistry from her partnership with DJ Storm, a pair who not only flew the flag for Metalheadz, but also showed the next crop of talented females that you could tackle the decks and gain the same respect as your male counterparts (think DJ Flight, Alley Cat and many others). It's been a decade since she was taken from this Earth, but the admiration and praise for her trailblazing has not gone unpraised, and every year, fans still rinse the recorded sets, reminiscing on the good ol' days with Kemistry, while trying to infuse the scene with a bit of her funk. She's been immortalized in song by her good friend Goldie, and on 28 April 2009, the heavyweights are touching down at Cargo to rinse out the venue and truly raise her spirit inside the area!
Kemistry, you're truly in our hearts, forever, and on this special night, your peers will be paying tribute the best way they know how - by remembering you in beats. And to think, a line-up like this, on such a special evening, and only £3 on the door? Just make sure you read the fine print: this is an 18+ event, and ID will be checked upon entry!
Now, for those of you who might not be aware of how lethal the tandem of Kemistry and Storm were on the decks (or if you just want to relive one of the finest DnB mixes around), Dogs On Acid has been given permission to provide their classic DJ Kicks mix CD, which was released not too long before she passed, and is a perfect example of what you could expect from the bassbins when these two dubplate assassins touched down!
