.SHADYBRAIN NEWS UPDATE (JULY 2009)
It's been a bit since we've heard from the .shadybrain collective, but their time spent away hasn't gone to waste! On 6th July 2009, their 12" (SHB007) dropped, with MP3s exclusively available on www.shadybrain.com (with the tracks being released to larger outlets on the 16th of July), featuring tracks from Cern and Duo Infernale. Here's some info on each track:
A. Cern "Non Fiction"
Without a doubt, Cern from New Zealand is one of the most promising artists the current Drum and Bass scene has to offer. Collaborations with like minded artists such as dBridge, Loxy, Phace & Misanthrop, Logistics, and Bulletproof speak for themselves. Cern's shadybrain debut "Non Fiction" underlines what he is about, providing a sick breakbeat groove right from the beginning just to develop into a true techfunk influenced subbass monster.
AA. Duo Infernale "The Mirage"
Releasing tunes on labels such as Soul:r, Timeless Recordings, Dispatch, as well as Horizons and being featured on Marcus Intalex' top selling Fabric Live CD, Duo Infernale are two of the most successfull Drum and Bass artists to break through from Germany. With their new release "The Mirage" on shadybrain, they take their work to another level. Futuristc and techno influenced sounscapes meet an incredible deepness all covered up by a hypnotizing drumgroove.
With this release, expect to see some differences in the way .shadybrain operates. From September on, the full corporate & website re-launch will have taken place, but you’ll also see the label branch out to include Techno, Experimental, Indie and other genres. The idea behind it, to quote label-head Chris Impulse, is that "as a label deeply rooted in digital culture (we started off as an MP3 label), we want to benefit from this technology which makes it easy to release a lot of music without having too much cost". They also see the trail blazed by labels like Ninja Tune and Warp and look to fly that flag onward. When more details about the new .shadybrain hit the desk, we’ll sort you guys out...
