the forthcoming Ridley Scott ''not an Alien movie'' is gathering speed and it's definatley some sort of Alien prequel

    first official pic... http://twitpic.com/5tmjk3

    GOOD NEWS -

Ridley Scott says that there will be creatures that are "biomechanoid" which will be unique and "break new ground."

very little CGI is apprently going to be used

HR Giger is involved once again in design

film takes place in the same universe as Alien

    BAD NEWS -

Possible PG-13 cut for the cinema opening, there will be a R release at some point though

    traditional Aliens may not feature

it does indeed. someone i know was working up in Pinewood and saw the sets. he said it looked amazing.
and then he spoiled most of the story for me

he also said Tim Burton was there working on another fucking film with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter

The very last question and answer are a pretty big one if you don't know anything about the movie.

Sir Ridz at the helm usually equals quality, so I'm more optimistic than I normally would be for any other similar re-boot/remake type of thing. (Akira, for example has much more of a chance of being complete shit)

I'm a huge fan of his work, especially Alien and Bladerunner of course - and I've watched the feature length documentaries on both of those films several times over.

One thing that makes me confident, other than Giger's re-involvment (which is amazing news) - is that I know how passionate Ridlely is about the core mythology of the Alien, the Space Jockey etc etc. He always seems to be personally invested in most of his films, immersing himself in the subject matter to the point of becoming an authority on the subject... especially when it comes to Alien. I'm sure, even with the 3D / PG 13 factor - it will be something different and of course visually stunning.
