I worked with him in 1999 and he was actually a really nice bloke.

It was just as he was getting into TV and had just landed a job with MTV basically chatting shit to people clearly fucked up on pills in clubs to confuse them and recording the result.

He plays a part, as a cunt - but he's alright really (or was 13 years ago at least :teeth:)

After he got the sack from MTV, he got this short, zero-budget series commissioned on tiny satellite channel UK Play - Re:Brand, which I really liked and shopped around to quite a few people (carrying a VHS)

Then UK Play went down, I had a family friend at Channel 4, who worked on something high up to do with fund raising or charity on Big Brother, contacted them saying: just buy the Re:Brand series, this guy's a potential superstar (I don't think I even believed that at the time - he was so niche, I was amazed I even got one friend of mine to watch the series with me)

Didn't hear anything back for a while. Next thing I know he's being given all these vehicles on Channel 4, then Big Brother, then the rest's history... He's a great guy. Society gets very aggressive about people being unashamed individuals beyond adolescence - throw in his success with women and you get betas worked up into a stress-frenzy. I'm partly responsible for that and that's a great feeling

I didn't like him on Big Brother but then I 'got' him after listening to the radio show. I personally think he's great, far more self-effacing and thoughtful than people give him credit for.

Yeah, it's nauseating but in that context the guy is one of the sanest, smartest, most togehter people in the room.

And this is RUSSELL FUCKING BRAND.

    The world has gone mad.

EDIT I've just watched that video and it seems to me that they've edited out everything interesting that the guy said. From the Guardian reporting:

Anyone who can argue with that can fuck off imo.

I dont like his "louis XIV on brown" look but the bloke's alright and living the life that everyone on here would like to live.

Also very refreshing of him to talk about the need to improve treatment for drugs users, moving towards treatment rather than punishment, while stating that drugs shouldn't be legalised as there needs to be a deterrent

I know some of the bad liberals will criticise him for that; "legalise everything, the state cant tell me what to put in my body"

Maybe it's because my country in particular is very torn by primitive drug policy but I found his testimony to be very valid and necessary.

Also I hate to say it but J Swift is right on the beta thing. This guy stirs up quite a lot of beta animosity without even trying, hence basically all the comments on the first page.

This one is a lot better, the one I'm talking about:

I do like him usually but that was just a cringe-fest tbh. He has been given the opportunity to do something positive on a an important stage and just cracks a load of shit jokes. He should use his wit a bit more rationally.

I think they guy is great. I have never found him annoying. He just doesn't really give a shit about peoples opinion of him and that's to be admired imo.

To be fair there are more videos. Its just in that case they edited it to show the 'jokes'

Here's a more serious one for you. The whole vid is on the same page.
