that uuuuughwagahgharbl sound.
How do you create this, I want to overuse it some more in 2012!
Automate FM values and / or comb filter I figure.
modulated fm synth not that hard tbh i have a patch similar to that for sytrus if you use fruity
switched to ableton a long time ago
Sounds very much like he's mixed in a bit of Logic's Ringshifter default preset, with automated frequency. Play with some frequency shifters to get something similar to that shimmering effect.
Sub Focus used a similar one not long back... I imagine they're made in Massive
In the mean time, a certain genre has fully embraced the following Reaktor ensemble:
Ni massive - pick a few nice waveforms + one of the distortions... the main part is the frequency shifter "insert" in massive. 50% wet and then you can automate the "amount" dial. It transposes with the sound but DOESNT transpose with your pitch wheel so you can get some nice results by pitch bending as it goes in and out of phase. Add notch/comb filters or ring mod for added interest... or chorus.. or phaser... you get the idea
Add a bit of dimension expandage cause it makes it sound phat :teef:
Main thing is really the frequency shifter for the movement. Also the bend+/- option on the oscillators really opens up the right sort of timbres to use with it
this is giving good results
what it sounds like now, straight outta massive, with some pitch bend and frequency shift automation
You got the right idea there, keep tweaking
over used but you know it sounds good
was going to actually guess this as well-
agreed though, highly overused. and in effect, boring as fuck now..
