Also have some Serum kickbass patches I've been working on if anyone's interested?
It gets muddy when the kick enters. You could try sidechaining some other instruments (and maybe reverb?) to the kick too. There's also too much low end on the side channel (track is decently wide apart from that tho).
Long story short, other sounds/reverb/that wide low ends is eating the punch from the kick/bass. Speaking of the kick, it doesn't sound very big, but it's impossible to tell if it's fault of the kick or just the other stuff masking it.
nice one cheers man! im going to try working on that when i get back to my monitors
yo man think i could try these presets? would like to see how you have done them! cheers
Just realized most of them use non-factory wavetables and samples... So I knocked this up quickly, gets the idea across.
Works at 190 bpm - you would need to change the attack on ENV 3 to get it working at the right speed for your track.
Mess with different wavetables (mainly for OSC 2) for different timbres.
Might as well share this tidbit here as well.
To get mono compatible stereo width and warmth on the bass of my kickbasses I've been doing this...
1. Create an FX rack in Ableton Live on the bass track.
2. Make three chains:
Chain 1: "Clean" chain, no fx.
Chain2: "Left" chain. Highpass bass @ 1k or so. Pan hard left.
Chain3: "Right" chain. Highpass bass @ 1k or so. Pan hard right.
3. Now add a saturation / distortion plugin to the "Left" and "Right" chains.
(I use Slate VMR but the Amp or Saturator effects in Live would work too.)
4. Set the parameters on the saturation plugs to be slightly different. (I would use different amp models in Amp, and different waveshapes in Saturator.) Use you ears until the left and right chains sound different but balanced.
5. Mix the three chains to taste.
This work really well for adding a bit of width and warmth that sums well to mono.
@elk Where did that tune go? Was going to say it was sounding really good!
Nice definition on the elements and deep kickbass
Cheers man! haha i uploaded it and after i listened to it a few times made a few changes, was going put an updated version up! hopefully try and finish it, got to many half finished projects!

C3B Kickbass TutorialWatch this video on YouTube
Been a lurker for a couple years on here but registered for the fact this thread is active ! Haha :)
That c3b tutorial is golden... Spoke to him as well as I use Studio One and the "clean" channels in the fx racks are just equivilent of sending the original to the master/bus channel as well as the fx channel as well. The FX racks are just the same as parallel channels with FX chains in :) So anyone wanting to transfer this to other DAW's, no need to look at it and go wtf?!
